The Force is strong with Golden Ticket Events’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Premiere

My girlfriend and I were fortunate enough to be invited to Golden Ticket Events’ special screening of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ on December 16, one day before it officially premiered in Philippine cinemas. The screening was held at Cinema 3 of SM Megamall – and the crowd was crazy huge!

According to Golden Ticket Events’ Marketing Director Kendrick Go, the reception was surprising, though probably not entirely unexpected. Even though the screening was held right in the thick of the holiday season, fans still came in droves and lined up to see the highly anticipated sequel to one of the most wildly successful science fiction franchises of all time. “In spite of their busy schedules, inclement weather, and holiday traffic, our patrons were still able to make time for the screening. It gives me great pleasure that Golden Ticket Events is able to continuously provide a memorable movie theatre experience in the Philippines.”

Snacks, gift certificates, and other special treats from Golden Ticket Events and Forever Beautiful awaited eager patrons, some of whom were even in costume as Stormtroopers, Rebel pilots, and bounty hunters.

Over a decade after the release of the last film in the prequel trilogy (‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’), Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ reignites the Force in hardcore fans, reuniting the stars of the original trilogy (Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher) and introducing an all-new cast led by John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac.

Taking place after the events of ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ reveals the fate of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, battle-hardened political leader Leia Organa, and swashbuckling space smuggler Han Solo, as an old threat rises once more and promises to wreak havoc across the galaxy.

Here’s a snippet from my review of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ for GMA News Online:

‘The Force Awakens’ brings along with it many beloved elements and characters of the Star Wars mythos, while introducing an entire cantina’s worth of new ones and deftly setting the stage for future adventures. For longtime fans, perhaps the simplest and most effective way to describe it is that it is pretty much how ‘A New Hope’ would be, if it were made in 2015 – from the loud orchestra music accompanying the opening crawl that sends chills up your spine, to the vibrant and visually distinct creatures that inhabit the various worlds, to the action-packed battle scenes. Every element in this film is carefully crafted and calculated — particularly with regard to fan service; aside from all the nods and references to previous ‘Star Wars’ movies that attentive fans will definitely catch, they even used an obscure name from the original draft of ‘Star Wars’ as an important plot device — to capture the rush that wide-eyed fans of ‘A New Hope’ felt, even long after they walked out of theaters on that fateful day in 1977.
